In un’intervista a Metal Hammer il batterista Lars Ulrich non ha svelato molti dettagli ma ha avuto parole di lode per il chitarrista James Hetfield capace di trasformare in oro ogni nota e di farla diventare un gran pezzo: “James mentre eravamo in Australia mi ha confidato di aver pronti più di 700 nuovi riff. E’ quasi troppo, vero? [...] Già mentre James sta accordando la chitarra riesce a tirar fuori almeno quattro o cinque buoni riff. E’ spaventoso. James non dovrebbe mai prendere in mano la chitarra senza un registratore acceso.”
